CASE Prep

Ask about your situation, and attach documents if you have them. A CASE analyst researches it and writes back.

This is research, not legal counsel.

We describe what decided public cases show. We do not predict outcomes, advise on your case, or replace an attorney.

CASE is a private research tool. It is not affiliated with DOHA, DCSA, DoD, DoE, or the U.S. Government. Everything on this site describes decided public cases. Nothing here is legal advice, a recommendation, or a prediction about any pending case. Read the original decision before relying on any quoted language, and speak with an attorney about your own matter.

Tell us what you need

A CASE analyst reads every one, and we email you when it is ready.

Choose how it comes back

Decide now, before you write anything. Either way a CASE analyst reads what you send.

Your situation, mapped

  • Every guideline and concern identified in what you send, listed one by one
  • The specific disqualifying conditions each concern falls under, in the guideline’s own words
  • The mitigating conditions that apply to your facts, and what the record shows judges want to see for each

The comparable decisions

  • The full list of decisions whose allegations most closely resemble yours, favorable and unfavorable, each linked to read in full
  • How that set actually came out, with the count behind every rate
  • The same figures narrowed to your specific issue rather than the whole guideline (unpaid taxes, not just “financial”)
  • Where your facts sit against the set: amounts, timing, and how long ago the conduct was

What moved judges

  • The factors judges actually credited in the favorable decisions, counted, not guessed
  • The documentation those applicants put in front of the judge
  • What the unfavorable decisions had in common, which is often the more useful half
  • How much time since the conduct appears in granted versus denied decisions

Who decides, and how they have ruled

  • If a judge is already assigned: their own decided record, by guideline, with the mitigations they have credited
  • The Department Counsel on the other side, and how their cases have gone
  • How represented and unrepresented applicants fared in comparable cases (association, never causation, and we say so)

What happens next, measured

  • The real timeline from the record: median days from Statement of Reasons to hearing, and hearing to decision
  • Your deadlines, calculated from the dates on your own letter
  • If it goes to appeal: what the Appeal Board has actually done with cases like yours

Or ask for something else entirely

Tell us the question you need answered, or the data you need built into a report, and we will build it: a financial concern, changes in the law, one guideline in depth, a particular judge, a country, an issue traced across twenty years, whatever the record can speak to. See what people ask for.

Nothing is charged yet. Write your question below and send it. We take you to the payment page after that, so you see exactly what you are buying first. If you change your mind there, your question still reaches us and is still answered at no charge.

Sending us a question needs a free account.

Accounts are free. Your choice of the detailed report is remembered, and this page reopens after you sign in.

No charge to send it, and nothing is charged later without you agreeing to it first (how this works). Uploads are private, encrypted, and deletable, and auto-delete after 14 days if nothing comes of them (Privacy & Security).

Not what you needed?
